This has me thinking

,

I wonder if it would be possible to swear off new purchases for an entire year. Think of all the money we could save! I just finished reading this interesting article in the Dallas Morning News about the topic.

This family stopped buying new things for themselves and instead either purchased used or did without. The only main exceptions were food, toiletries, and home improvement items, among a few other things.

If you can't do this whole-heartedly in your home, perhaps you can find ways to work it in and save yourself some money!

I wonder what we can do without and not even miss? This year, we'll find out!

I swore off new purchases for an entire month- that was pretty cool, but I don't know if I could do it for a year.

I think I'm just going to take it one month at a time and try to be a little more aware of what we're buying. Perhaps that will help us save money.
I'm giving it a shot anyway!

Oh my. If I get depressed, which has been happening a lot lately, I rush to the mall and splurge on clothes. The key to saving money (for me at least) is to always be happy.

Thanks for following Sarah! I apologize it took me a while to follow your blog but now I'm glad I did.

I like to shop when I get depressed too, so I feel 'ya on that one.
I'd like to stick to this but my biggest undoing is my husband! He always wants to buy new stuff.

Thanks for following and for your kind words!
