A new project!
I have some ugly things in my house, among them, the pillows on my couch. I started to think that I had no idea why I had them but then I remembered that my mother gave them to us for free so that's why we have them! We're still in the phase of our decorating where we weed through the free stuff and actually get some things with style in the room. We're growing out of the just married, dorm furniture.
Anyway, here are the pillows. The couches are new and I love them, but I have been dying for some really awesome pillows for them.So I was thinking about making some pillows for the couch out of a fabric that had some green and red in it, but I'm learning that I suck at picking out fabric. I need to look around through some of my favorite blogs and see what they do for their throw pillows. I kinda liked this fabric but my husband just informed me that it 'isn't his favorite.' I'll keep looking. ;0)
This old rocker has been passed down and around in my family with no one ever really wanting the poor thing. I remember it being a catch-all chair in my mother's bedroom for all of my childhood years. The chair has been shut away out of sight and use for a long time. Supposedly it was made by hand by my great-great-whatever and today after reading a blog about getting more seating in your living space for more conversation areas, I decided to bring it out of my daughter's room where it was getting NO love. So here it is:I have plans to buy a crimson seat cushion for this chair and put a throw pillow on it. I have thoughts on distressing it a bit further so that it looks like its scratches and dings are on purpose but I haven't googled what that's all about and I don't know if that would be a good idea or not.
So that's what I'll be working on next and this rocker will live in my living room from now on, supplying that one extra seat in the area should someone need one. Also, being an antique, it could possibly become a little conversation piece all on its own....I guess I better get its history down before someone asks me about it!

Beautiful rocker! I look forward to seeing your home decorated... slowly (don't even try to do it fast....you will change your mind as you go)
Scarring up something old and beautiful on purpose always makes me hesitate.
If it were in my house with my family, all that would come naturally....
:)
I admire people who are able to make things- like my mom, she's always making cushion cases, curtains, pillow cases, coasters.. it's amazing!
Ok, I promise to stay away from the rocker with distressing thoughts in my mind. You're right, it'll get that way on its own.
Hey Cheryl...no one said I was any good at making things, but I'm always willing to give it a shot. ;)
