Happy Hatchday! plus lots more...
The baby birds have hatched! I have been keeping close eye on them and I believe I caught a picture of them on their Hatchday! Here they are, all fresh and new.
And yesterday, they were a lot more active and tried to eat me when I came for my pictures. The little darlings!!
Mr and Mrs Mockingbird continue to prove themselves to be excellent parents. To be honest, I have rarely seen such devoted parents as this species of bird. They also have this uncanny ability to distinguish between friend and foe around their nest. Some types of birds will get the swooping, pecking and battle cries while others are ignored. Amazingly, they ignore me and the kids and our dogs. I check on the babies every day or so just to make sure no one has fallen out of the nest. I'll keep looking after them as they get bigger too. :) I don't want to find them out of the nest and eaten by ants or anything. I hate when baby birds get eaten by ants. I can hardly imagine a more painful death. I hate ant bites!!
Yesterday, we were blessed by another visitor to our yard. We found a female 3-toed box turtle! I had no idea that there were wild turtles in my area, but I have learned that there aren't many. Unfortunately, many turtles that are for sale in pet stores are WILD caught turtles. So people catch these little guys and sell them in pet stores. No wonder the wild population of these friendly little turtles are declining. With habitat destruction and neighborhood poachers, I worry about them! At any rate, we kept this little lady in a laundry basket all day -not sure what to do with her- and then let her go into the 6 acres of land behind the house. Good luck out there, babe!
This is about the time of year where these little guys mate and start laying clutches of eggs so, I hope she does that and makes a bunch more little turtles.
What a sweetie she was. It was nice to visit with her. :)
My garden is doing well! We've been able to harvest a bunch of sweet peas from it and now my green beans are starting to pop out too! Everything is growing nicely and the peas tasted great so I must be doing something right.
So....that's the news from the Mamacanon back yard!
Today, being Tuesday, is Senior Citizens day at Goodwill. Although I am not a senior citizen, my mommy is so I try to tag along with her for some half price shopping when I can. The kids were freaking monsters today but I still managed to score some cool things.
I was able to find 2 dresses for $8 total. I need dresses and skirts for my Mary Kay facials and events. I'll model them later for 'ya. I also found this choice topiary for $6.50, it needs a little love, but I think it is great. It is ::HUGE::
Also, I scored this lighthouse birdhouse which I will either hang from a tree or put a bamboo steak into to dress up my flower bed. It is dirty, like most things from my Goodwill, but it still has the tags on it from being purchased originally. It also came with a bonus set of eyebrow tweezers that I found inside the birdhouse. Score!!And finally, I found this little towel holder for the kid's bathroom. The counters need 'something' and I'm hoping I can use this in there and it will make me stop looking in there all cock-eyed. You know what I mean....when a space needs something, but you're not sure what it needs? Yeah, I've been looking at my kid's bathroom like that lately.
Also, we may or may not be getting an entertainment center for our living room from someone in the neighborhood. They have a nice one posted up for sale, but it may not have a big enough opening for our TV. We'll go check it out tonight.
Oh and as I know you are all anxious for an update....and because I always post the longest, most scatter-brained posts EVER.....I'll tell you about how the Mary Kay has been treating me.
I think I love it.
I had my debut party over the weekend and 12 people came!! Only 5 people said they'd come for sure so I was overwhelmed! I received gifts from my Director for having such an amazing turn out and everyone had a good time. I was able to book several facials from my debut party, too! Tonight, I'm doing a facial on my husband. LOL!! I need the practice so I figured I'd start at home. 15 facials in the next 15 days is my goal and I'm going for it!
Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Congrats on your new business success!
The little birdies are so cute! Sounds like you have a lot going on with the garden. I'm super jealous, I wish I could have a garden here! Maybe next year. :)
